Description :
Faced with the prospect of your own mortality, would you go in for cryonic preservation to save your body up for the future, when future medical advancements would cure you of your disease and help you lead a full life again? Would you accept such a decision by a loved one? Set in Mumbai, this book traces the lives of three women from three different generations who not only share a roof but also a deep and abiding love for each other. Shalu, her mother whom she calls Maa, and her daughter Tara, are incredibly strong and courageous women, who face life head on, with steely grit and determination. Even as they are trudging along, an Alzheimer's diagnosis, and the shock of a serious illness place a tremendous strain on the family. Coming face to face with her own mortality, one of the three women boldly opts for cryonic preservation. Her family is aghast and is confronted with the medical, social and ethical dilemmas of her decision. As they are agonizing over whether cryonic preservation is the right option, they gain clarity from a very unlikely source. The narrative weaves in stories from Indian mythology and explores the conflict between medical advancement and religion to create an intriguing story about an ordinary middle-class family faced with an extraordinary situation.
